Cash crunch in Kupwor, locals vandalize ATM

A mob Sunday vandalized a bank cash machine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwor district, a police officer said.

Witnesses said angry residents vandalized the cash machine of JK Bank at Hospital road. “Cash machines of JK Bank, SBI, HDFC and PNB in entire district most of the times don’t function, and this is why people vandalized the cash machine,” the witnesses said.

The locals also staged strong protests against all these banks and alleged that bank staff remained indifferent despite repeated pleas.

They urged the bank authorities to keep cash in the machines or remove them in case there is no cash.

Shouting slogans they said that authorities should understand that people need cash all the time and such attitude by authorities can be prove dangerous in exigency.
