Kashmir: Three insurgents killed in Shopian gunfight

Three local Hizb-ul-Mujahideen insurgents have been killed in on gunfight with government forces which erupted on Saturday evening in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Witnesses say that the exchange of gunfire intensified since the break of the dawn.


Indian army also suffered loss when some trapped insurgents managed to break the cordon and escape, resulting in the death of two Indian army personnel and injuries to three.

Police sources identified the slain insurgents as Umar Majid Mir from Kulgam, Irfan Sheikh of Maldura from Shopian and Adil Malik of Malikgund, Shopian.
