Woman killed as Lashkar insurgents, forces trade fire in south Kashmir









A woman has been killed and many civilians injured in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district where top Lashkar commander and his aides are believed to be hiding.
A posse of troopers from RR joined by SOG cops laid a siege around Tengwari area of Dialgam here in the wee hours today following inputs about the presence of LeT insurgents in the area, witnesses told Kashmir Dispatch.


When the joint team zeroed in, the insurgents hiding in the house opened fire upon them. The forces returned the fire triggering off a fierce gun-battle.


In the exchange of fire, a police spokesman said, a woman was critically injured.


“She was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries” the spokesman said.


Sources said three Lashkar insurgents, including commander Bashir Lashkari were trapped in the house cordered by the government forces.
The area, witnesses said is witnessing violent protests as people are trying to march to the encounter spot.


The exchange of gunfire was going on when the last reports came in.
