At least 10 paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force troopers were injured as clashes erupted on Saturday between protesters and Indian armed forces near Kashmir’s Shupian district, police said.
The clashes took place in Sugan village adjacent to Chillipora village where a gunfight had started on Friday between forces and holed-up insurgents.
However, the insurgents reportedly escaped later on Friday night, the police said.
Tear smoke was used to disperse the protesters with no reports of any casualties.
Government forces used drones and para commandoes to tackle the suspected insurgents, but sources said the rebels managed to flee.
