Man killed, trooper wounded in Kashmir attack

A man died and a paramilitary trooper was injured when suspected insurgents hurled a grenade in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwam district this afternoon.

Sources said a grenade was hurled at a police team in Muran Square in the southern district in which a civilian Mohammad Ayub Wani was greviously wounded.

Ayub was rushed to a local hospital, but he couldn’t survive, medical sources told Kashmir Dispatch.

Sources added that a Central Reserve Police Force trooper was injured in the attack.

Constable Dalbir Singh received splinter wounds and is being treated, sources added.

Government forces launched a search operation after the attack.
