Suspected insurgents managed to give a slip to government forces who had established a check point in Bandepur district of Jammu and Kashmir during early Thursday morning, highly placed sources told Kashmir Dispatch.
Sources told Kashmir Dispatch that government forces after receiving a tipping off about the presence of insurgents had established a check point in Matirgam village of the district which shares border with Pakistan controlled Kashmir.
“Between 2am to 3am there was a suspected movement and the men were asked to halt, but they fired upon the troops,” a top source said.
He said the firing was responded to but the insurgents managed to flee.
Soon after the fire exchange, government forces launched a search operation which concluded when the report was filed.
