Pulwama shuts over raids, arrests

A complete shutdown was observed in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday against the ‘random arrest of youth’.

Police during nocturnal raids arrested at least 9 youth including two brothers. Police sources told CNS that all the arrested youth were involved in stone-pelting.

Shops, educational institutions and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off from the road.

People alleged that police randomly raided the houses during the dead of night and arrested youth.

Confirming the arrest of 9 youth, a police official claimed that all these youth were involved in stone-pelting. These youth are responsible for the injuries of some of our senior officers.

The arrested youth according to police sources have been identified as Amir Hansan Ganaie, Amir Bashir residents of Muran Pulwama, Feroz Ahmed Kumar, Mudasir Wali residents of Bonar, Abid Bashir Sofi (Badarpora) Rayees Bashir (Dalipora) Shabir Reyaz Wani (Damhal Hanjipora) Irfan Bashir Shiekh and Adil Bashir Shiekh residents of Wanpora Pulwama.
