Narrating a ‘woeful’ tale of their arrest at the hands of Delhi police, senior Hurriyat leader Javid Ahmed Mir Friday said that they were ruthlessly beaten up by Delhi police while Yasin Malik was dragged from the vehicle his clothes were torn.
Giving details, Mir told Srinagar based news gathering agency that on Thursday night after meeting Kashmiri families he along with Yasin Malik, Ahsan Untoo and Shabir Ahmed Dar left from Zakir Nagar. “It was around 10:45 of the night when near Friends Colony, we were intercepted by Delhi police. Scores of police and private vehicles cordoned us and we were forcibly dragged out from the vehicle,” Mir said adding that all the policemen were top officials.
He said they never felt that police officials had cordoned them. “Their behavior was rude and they terrorized us. For a moment, we felt they would kill us as their intention was not good. They seemed Bajrangdal activists rather than police officers,” Mir said.
“When they cordoned us and dragged us mercilessly from the vehicle, Yasin Malik resisted and for about half an hour the arguments continued. “Some police officials caught hold Malik by beat him up. They caught hold his hair and tore up his clothes. Other police officials who were in civvies beat Untoo as well as Shabir Ahmed Dar and me. Our mobiles were snatched and we were forcibly lodged into a police vehicle,” he said and added that the police took them to Airport and lodged there in a police station.
“The condition of Yasin Malik deteriorated in Police Station and he started vomiting. During midnight, Malik accompanied by Untoo was shifted to Max Hospital for treatment. During wee hours we all were forced to board on the plane and at Srinagar Airport we were arrested and lodged in Kothi Bagh police station,” Javid Mir said.
Mir told CNS that the condition of Malik started vomiting in Plane as well. “He was put on Oxygen and some Kashmiri doctors as well as some tourists treated him well in the plane,” Mir said and alleged that Delhi police displayed the real face of terrorism and left no stone unturned in terrorizing them.
Despite repeated attempts, Police Commissioner Delhi Neeraj Kumar could not be contacted.
Meanwhile, Yasin Malik has been shifted to Sher-i-Kashmir Medical Institute, Srinagar for treatment.
