J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages is organising a 2-day Conference on Kashmiri language – challenges and opportunities from October 31st 2012 during which experts and scholars will read out research papers on different topics related to the subject matter of the Conference.
Secretary JKAACL, Khalid Bashir Ahmad said that the Conference would be inaugurated by the minister for finance, Abdul Rahim Rather.
Prominent writer and critic, M.Y. Taing will deliver the keynote address even as Jnanpith awardee poet, Prof. Rehman Rahi will read out the theme paper of the Conference.
Others who will present their papers during the Conference include Ghulam Nabi Khayal, Prof. Shafi Shouq, Prof. Margoob Banihali, Dr. Ratan Lal Talashi, Dr. Aziz Hajni and Dr. Nazir Azad.
Prominent writers of Kashmiri language from within and outside state will attend the Conference as observers. The Conference will deliberate on issues related to the Kashmiri language ranging from journalism, curriculum, computerisation, academics and translation.
Each paper reading will be followed by an open-house discussion and question-answer session.
The conference will have a ‘Kashmiri mushaira’ as the concluding event in which noted poets will participate.
