Political leader saves mother-child duo on Amarnath pilgrimage from drowning

A politician belonging to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party saved two Amarnath pilgrims from drowning in a stream in central Kashmir’s Sonamarg, about 40 kilometers from summer capital Srinagar, on Monday, sources told Kashmir Dispatch here.

They said a PDP leader Bashir Ahmad Mir from Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district saved the life of a mother-son duo when they were drowning in the stream at Thajwas.

Sources said Rohit Kumar hailing from Bihar slipped in the Thajwas river and soon after his mother jumped in to stream to save her child.

Mir jumped into the stream at Sonamarg and saved the life of both mother and child.
